We have not yet received an invoice from Quex although David has contacted them on several occasions. We have been told that there is no problem with our licence of the field and an invoice will be sent soon.

Club fees will be Total £165. Membership £107.67  BMFA £47 and CAA £10.33  Bacs or cheque is the preferred method of payment Details are on our Web site .

Fees should be paid on the 1st Jan to ensure that insurance is valid

There were 34 members registered this year. Brian and John have both indicated that they will not be re-joining next year.

The flying Strip has not become waterlogged so far but the pits area is, so parking is off site at the moment.

The field will be rolled again next year in the spring before the ground starts to harden up again

In the spring the Container will be painted a similar green now that repairs to the doors have been completed. We will organise a working party so it should be done easily

We discussed the flying times with regard to IC flying on Sundays an d we will contact the Farmer in the spring. We will suggest that only small models be flown between 10-2pm to alleviate any noise issues. However it should be noted that we have not had issues for several years now and we can and do fly electric on Sundays.

We discussed the issue of drainage in the pits but it was decided not to pursue this.

The committee will remain the same.

The Meeting closed at 20.45

P.S we have now received the signed contract from Quex Park for 2014.

David Butt presented the financial statement for 2022 The club finished with an increase in funds of £961. The club fees will not be increased again this year although both the BMFA and CAA are increasing their charges. We have not yet received an invoice from Quex although David has contacted them on several occasions. We have been told that there is no problem with our licence of the field and an invoice will be sent soon.

Club fees will be Total £165. Membership £113,  BMFA £42 and CAA £10. Bacs or cheque is the preferred method of payment.

The field will be rolled again next year in the spring before the ground starts to harden up again as it was agreed that to roll it now may well lead to sealing the surface and then flooding in the winter.

The Pilots box and side fencing to the parking area has rotted and is falling down so we will try to get some metal pedestrian barriers to replace these.

The padlock cover and some repair work is required on the container doors and Richard will get this done.

Lighting in the hut was discussed and Gregg has offered some LED lighting strips which we will install. To remind everybody we do have a good 12v system for charging batteries including two chargers which are available in the container.

We discussed the flying times with regard to IC flying on Sundays but it was decided by a vote to leave things as they are at present. We will ask the Farmer if he will agree to flying IC on Bank holidays between 10am  and 4 pm.  Steve will contact the farmer.

Andrew passed the examiners certificate this year so we now have two which means we can test for B certificates on site.

There was a comment earlier in the year about rubbish on the strip so please make sure we take it all home, generally the site is kept clean.

The committee will remain the same.

The Meeting closed at 20.15.

Thanet model flying club AGM Minutes 2021.

Meeting held 6th December at Minnis Bay Sailing Club.

19 Members attended, apologies received from Frank Staples.

David Butt presented the financial statement for 2021 which showed the club had a slight surplus. The major expenditure this year being the purchase of another mower and repairs to the old one. There is sufficient money to be able to pay next year’s field rent which are due again the August. As a result it was agreed that no increase in fees is requires and the club would absorb the increase in BMFA fees.

Steve has been to visit the farmer who raised the initial comment about noise some years ago. He is quite happy with the present situation occasionally hearing us but not at a level to be a nuisance. His house is about 1 mile away to the south. As a result it was agreed that we would remove the rule limiting the size of turbines and IC motors, a rule that we had not enforced so seemed little point in keeping. Noise was discussed and all agreed that common sense is the best control.  Steve will visit again later in the year to see if there would be a problem flying turbines on a couple of days in the week. Sundays will remain electric only.

The subject of A and B certificates was discussed and it was agreed that some long standing members who have not got their certificates would be allowed Granny rights. All new members and flyers would be expected to have the A cert as a minimum. Trainee flyers would be expected to take the A certificate within three months being assessed as competent to fly without a buddy lead. Gas turbine flyers will be expected to hold the B certificate or to have been a club member for two years. Following the resignation of one of our examiners Andrew Gillingham has agreed to renew his examiners certificate which will enable the club to test for B certificates in house.

The subject of the condition of the entrance and pit area was discussed, Steve has spoken to our landlord and basically we are not allowed to make any modifications to the site. The use of plastic matts raised but it was felt driving onto the field would only result in the parking area being churned up. There is adequate parking once models has been dropped off in the lane so we will have to continue as we have in the past.

The present committee members are willing to continue with the addition of Gary Thatcher as Deputy Chair and Dave Hayfield as Safety officer so we now have all officers covered.

The Meeting closed at 20.15 following a vote of thanks from Terry.

Minutes of AGM 2019 Minnis Bay Sailing club 2nd December.

Steve opened the meeting at 8pm.20members attended.

The meeting opened with thanks to Terry for arranging the venue.

A discussion took place regarding the recent introduction by the CAA of a law concerning the use of all types of models above 250gms. Those who do not have a recognised award must pass either the BMFA or the CAA proficiency tests to be able to fly legally after November 30th. Those with BMFA   A or other recognised qualification will obtain their operator numbers when renewing their membership. The LMA are covering their members by paying the £9.

As a result all members should have a minimum of an A cert in order to fly without supervision. This has been extended from last November to the 31st August 2020. In order to assist in getting members passed Greg Hayfield has agreed to become an examiner for the club.

Noise is again becoming an issue and we have received a further comment recently. Following a discussion it was decided not to introduce formal testing and to remove the 50cc limit. The limit of turbine size to remain at 100 Newtons. However all members should do everything to keep noise to a sensible level. If two members consider that a model is noisy then it was agreed that it should be grounded until remedial action is taken.

Flying times were altered slightly in that Electric models are allowed to fly up to 9pm as well as Sundays 10-6. I C will be allowed to fly on bank holidays 10-6pm.

                                                                                                            Treasurers Report.

The club balance sheet stands at £2328-21. The major item this year was the purchase of the container and repairs carried out to the mower. The field rent is due in August and is £2000 at present. Club fees for next year are £165 an increase of £1. This includes registration to the CAA and BMFA insurance and is due on the 1st January. There is a problem with our TMFC web site but if possible use the renewal form there or pay by BACs making sure your name is included as a reference, email Dave to confirm payment. Keys for the container are obtainable from Glenn, at £5 each.New members are required and Dave Butt is willing to be the contact number.

There have been a couple of safety issues this year please will all take it seriously only fly from the pilots box, make sure model is restrained when starting and adjusting power. Do not taxi into or out of the pits area. A bench will be put aside to be used if there is a problem with model that requires attention.

The present committee agreed to stand again the meeting closed at 21.10pm.Thanet model flying club AGM Minutes 2021
